These are the pets we have loved, lost and still love. A portrait is the least that they deserve.
These are paintings of some of my favorite creatures in the wild. I gleaned the references from photos taken by friends and family and some snatched from documentary television.
I love birds but find it hard to catch good pictures so I begged, borrowed and stole reference photos from television documentaries and pictures taken by talented photographer friends. Every once in a while I captured a few photos of my own.
I just love documentaries about creatures from the deep. Every once in a while I am able to capture in sketches or photos those beautiful under water scenes, and then reinterpret them for my own enjoyment, and maybe yours.
I wanted to call this seascapes but so many were of lakes and streams and sounds and canals, that I had to call it simply water scapes and include sunsets and sunrises.
I live in the woods so it is hard not to make my everyday artwork, and I plan to do much more plein air sitting outside this summer. These are inspired by my own photos and those of my daughter. A few are not woods at all.
This is an eclectic mix of interiors, exteriors that I have collected and which have inspired me to paint them. I try to find the unique, or the ugly even that I can make pretty.
This is a collection of portraits and people studies that I have done over the years. Reference photos come from all sorts of places but usually taken by me or family or friends. A few were commissioned; others I just couldn’t resist painting.
As any artist will tell you, we like to branch out and experiment with new mediums and new techniques. This gallery is going to be about that. I hope you find it interesting.
