This portrait of a quiet little lake (or pond as it is called) in the wee hours of the morning was first captured in a photo by Lindy Hearne. With his kind permission, I have reinterpreted here in pastels on pastelmat. This study in reflections is another lesson learned in how reflections have a different character from what they are reflecting. Here you see the original is much farther away and the reflections are up close and personal. Because of the angle and horizon we get to see more in the reflection than was included in the original. The reflection in this instance is more real than its source.
