I found a little old battered magazine from probably the 50s with this Degas painting on the cover. I loved how she just glows next to the corp de Ballet behind her and the clumpish woman turning to glance at the scene. It is as though the woman is getting up to leave, or coming late; who knows. More puzzling is why Degas decided to keep her so prominently in the picture. This is my rendition. Ultimately, I think the composition is stunning once you really look at it. Painted entirely with soft pastels, no underpainting, on pastelmat. I loved doing this painting. I've not offered it for sale, but if someone does want it, I probably would sell it.
